I said I wouldn’t stop updating this page until the scumbag who shot Mr. Wrana was brought to justice, and here it is…

A black officer, Park Forest patrolman Craig Taylor (pictured above), 43, was charged in the police killing of 95-year-old John Wrana.  When an officer Tasered Mr. Wrana and it failed, Taylor quickly fired five times “in rapid succession” with bean bag rounds from a distance of 6 to 8 feet, but the optimum firing distance for using such rounds is a minimum of 15 feet.  Taylor was charged with “reckless conduct”.  How about charging him with murder or at least, involuntary manslaughter?  He had to have known what those beanbag rounds would have done to the frail 95-year old WWII veteran.

I was wondering what took them so long in announcing the shooter in this tragedy, and now I know.  If this had been a white cop, you can bet his name would have been announced immediately.

Of course, there’s some outcry that this black cop was justified.  Just imagine if this was a black WWII veteran and a white cop hit him with 5 beanbag rounds.  Do you think black people would sit down and shut up???  Not a chance!  This is hypocrisy at it’s best.  Taylor’s lawyer is stating that he didn’t act alone.  Hey, if his client is going down, why not bring down the other officers who were at the scene as well?  Taylor was released on personal recognizance pending trial, and that’s justice at its worst.  They should have locked him up.

Mr. Wrana was armed with a cane (because he couldn’t walk) and a shoehorn that the cops mistook for a machete, if you can believe that!  He was sitting in a chair when Taylor shot him.  He was not a threat, but Taylor saw 95-year old John Wrana as a threat so much so that he fired at him like some maniac.  His lawyer is saying Taylor’s a “good man”.  Man?  He’s no man.  People use that word too loosely.  He’s a coward and a loose cannon.  I’m wondering if he’s being evaluated because sane people don’t act out like that, but street thugs do.

If there is any justice in this world, Taylor will never know peace and happiness because he robbed Mr. Wrana of his and more importantly, robbed him of his life.  He should pay dearly for that.  I have faith that Taylor will reap what he has sown.  It may not be from the judicial system, as they’ll probably go easy on him, but from a Higher Power.

Maybe Mr. Wrana can now rest in peace, and his family will be able to put some closure to this horrific incident  by suing the pants off of Taylor in Civil Court.  That would be justice at its best…

The media is still curiously quiet about the identity of the officer who shot John Wrana and the official Illinois State Police report still hasn’t been released, even after six months (Mr. Wrana was shot on July 26, 2013).

The links below (all courtesy of Chicago Tribune’s John Kass) have more details of this crime where a police officer felt the need to fire five beanbag rounds (not the first reported “one round”, from a 12-gauge Mossberg pump-action police shotgun) into a defenseless WWII Veteran who was just approaching his 96th birthday.  The shotgun, according to one of these updated stories, was a CTS-brand “Super Sock” where rounds travel about 190 MPH. They are not to be fired at human targets closer than 21 feet, but the attorney for the Wrana family stated that Mr. Wrana was shot near the entranceway of his tiny studio apartment, about 10 feet from the door, but they didn’t know where the officer stood when he fired at Mr. Wrana, so it could have been closer than the doorway—nobody’s talking.

As I stated in my previous posts (below this update), I will stay on this story until I know more.  Someone has got to be held accountable.  My thinking is that someone would have been held accountable a long time ago if Mr. Wrana had been black…

The news media is curiously silent about the cop who killed John Wrana, and I won’t stop looking until I find out who the trigger-happy idiot is.

I did come across this post from Peter Bella, a former police officer with 30 years under his belt working with the Chicago Police Department.  Mr. Bella talks about the Wrana case and about a prior similar case he worked on.  I thought his story was interesting enough to post here.  Mr. Bella wants to know why Park Forest Police killed a 96 Year old veteran.  We’d all like to know, Peter.  Hopefully, the rest of the details will come out

“It is the soldier, not the reporter, Who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the soldier, not the poet, Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the soldier, not the organizer, Who gave us the freedom to demonstrate

It is the soldier, Who salutes the flag, Who serves beneath the flag.

And whose coffin is draped by the flag, Who allows the protester to burn the flag.”

I feel I need to stay on this story.  Here is more information I found on Mr. John Wrana, U.S. Army Corps Veteran, who was killed on Friday, July 26, 2013 by a trigger-happy Keystone Kop-like cop in Chicago.  He should be celebrating his 96th birthday, but instead his family is grieving the loss of their WWII hero who was attacked on the very soil he so valiantly protected.  This is such a heartbreaking story, and as I continue to pray for the family he left behind, I’m not hearing any more specifics about this case.

The news anchor in this video states Mr. Wrana was taken to two different hospitals, yet the accompanying text states only one.  Which one is it?…

Vet killed by cops should have been celebrating 96th birthday

Mr. Wrana was murdered on Friday, July 26, 2013.  I’d like to know why after three weeks now, there is no mention of the cop who killed him.  Any other shootings would have the full name front and center, so why all the secrecy?

I know he will be waked at the Ryan Tews Funeral Home in Homewood, IL, but this hero’s services are still pending at this time…

“The willingness with which our young people are
likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly
proportional to how they perceive the Veterans of earlier wars were treated and
appreciated by their nation.”

—President George Washington

I’m troubled by your comment (below), Albert, as it appears you don’t even know your own history.  It was France and England who declared war on Germany.  Your own Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain, declared war on Germany on September 3, 1939.  This war was started because of an unprovoked attack on Poland by Germany.  Both France and England declared war on Germany after Hitler (do you even know who this maniac was) refused to stop his invasion.

America started supplying the UK with oil and war supplies to help you fight YOUR WAR.  Germany’s treaty with Italy and Japan in September of 1940 against France and England was a warning to us here in the United States.  They wanted us to STOP HELPING ENGLAND.  We gave you 50 of our old destroyers FOR YOUR WAR.

Then the Holocaust happened.  Surely you know what that was, Albert, or are you a denier in that atrocity?  This is where America starts sending England ammunition and more war supplies—EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO HELP FUND YOUR WAR.

After Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and two other U.S. Islands, Guam and Wake on December 7, 1941, both Germany and Italy DECLARED WAR ON THE UNITED STATES.  On December 8, 1941, Congress approved our entry into war.  Technically, WE WERE ATTACKED FIRST BEFORE WE DELARED WAR!!!

On June 6, 1944 (D-Day)…Do you know what that is, Albert?  That’s when Allied Troops land on the beaches of Normandy in France to begin Europe’s liberation.  U.S. Troops then liberated Guam.

In September of 1944, a U.S. Navy torpedo plane, piloted by our own George H. W. Bush, our 41st President, was shot down.  He parachuted into the sea and a U.S. sub rescued him.

I could go on, but I’ll stop here.  Albert, you would be wise to know the facts of the war that Mr. Wrana fought in so heroically, and why it’s necessary to fight an ongoing evil in this world.  True, war is evil, but it is a necessary one in order to retain our freedoms that we wholeheartedly believe in and enjoy.  World War II was the deadliest military conflict in history where the total deaths lost in the UK (450,900) and in the United States (418,500) alone were catastrophic.  May God rest all those souls who lost their lives in this war, and may they also find comfort in God’s loving arms.  We helped you fight your war because we believed in your cause and because we were attacked on our soil.  The United States didn’t even start this war, yet we lost almost as many as the country that started it.  How’s that for a slap in our face, Albert?  Did America complain?  No!  That’s not what America is about.  America has always been against tyranny, and we will continue to fight against it even though we know what the repercussions could be.  That’s what makes the United States of America the greatest country on this earth!

You would be wise to know the truth before you go shooting your mouth off with misguided and false accusations against the United States of America.  You see, we are the country that sides with truth and freedom.  We are against evil and will fight against it for all time.  That is who we are…that is, until Obama got into the White House because of rampant voter fraud.  Now we are fighting the evil from within, and I know in my heart that good will overcome evil in our country as well.  Most of us here have a strong faith, and we know that God will never let us down, even though our government has.  We may not believe in our government as it is being run now, but God will see us through this injustice just as He has seen us through every single catastrophe we have ever been faced with.  That, Albert, is why America will never die.  We will persevere as we always have.  “Truth, Justice And The American Way” is not only our mantra, it is God’s, and there is no greater power than His, I assure you…

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Albert, and I hope you stop by again real soon…

“If the system turns away from the abuses inflicted on the guilty, then who can be next but the innocents?”
―Michael Connelly, The Concrete Blonde

First of all, I would like to thank John Wrana for his valiant service to our country.  May his heroic soul rest in peace embraced in God’s loving arms.  I send prayers to his grieving family on the wings of God’s angels…

Here’s a tragic story of a white 95-year old WWII Veteran who served his country valiantly, and was sitting inside the Chicago retirement home, Victory Centre, where he lived.  He was being “involuntarily committed” for surgery.  He was told that if he survived the surgery, he would most likely be put on life support so he was vehemently against it.  The staff at Victory Centre was trying to subdue him for the ambulance that was coming to transport him for surgery that he didn’t want and he, understandably, became agitated.  If I was forced to have a surgery I don’t want, only God knows how I would react.  I strongly believe this is just a precursor of what is to come for the rest of us.

Instead of quieting him down, they called the police.  About 5-7 Park Forest Police officers busted in and Tasered Mr. Wrana, while he was sitting down.  By this time, he became enraged brandishing his cane and shoehorn, and police say a knife, although the staff said a knife wasn’t found.  I’m sure the police lied to justify their vicious attack on Mr. Wrana.  The Taser didn’t work so they came back with riot shields and shot him with a rifle full of beanbag rounds, which eventually lead to internal bleeding which killed him.

As for these cops who ACTED MORE THAN STUPIDLY, I hope they all reap what they have sown on this war veteran who served America so proudly.  They are all cowards of the lowest form.  Was a 95-year old man who could hardly stand up really a threat to them?  If the Chicago police would put that much energy into getting the filthy scum off of the streets of Chicago, they wouldn’t have the crime rate they have there.  Instead they kill a 95-year old man who wasn’t a threat to anyone.  I wonder if they would have been so quick to pull the trigger if it had been a black guy.  They don’t have to answer; I already know what the answer is.

Here is a white man who police said was brandishing a knife, yet no knife was found at the scene.  This was a lame attempt to cover up for themselves.  I am always front and center to defend those who put their lives on the line for us every day, but when I read a story like this, I wonder what the heck is going on in this country, and this world.  I can’t believe this happened.

Please permit me to spew a little…

Just about every time blacks are pulled over, arrested or accosted by police, they claim it happened “because they’re black”.  There are so many stories where Asians, Hispanics or Caucasians are pulled over as well (I am a blonde white woman, and I am in this category), arrested or accosted even though they’re “not black”.  I have news for them.  If they’re black and they break the law, they should pay for their crimes.

In this case, there was no crime committed whatsoever, but you don’t see white people rioting in the streets in retaliation for a wrongful death to a white man.  You don’t see white people breaking the windows of storefronts, stealing whatever they can get their hands on because a white person died at the hands of an officer or someone else.  You don’t see white people use a white person’s death as an excuse to deface someone’s property or go on a crime spree or worse.  Why is that?  They’re not the only ones who are murdered or wronged, but they are the only ones to act like wild beasts at every opportunity to mutilate or steal from innocent people who have nothing whatsoever to do with whatever may be going on.

I’m so sick and tired of the Trayvon Martin sympathizers in this country as well.  His death certainly wasn’t like the “Emmett Till” death as Oprah wants America to believe.  He wasn’t “hunted down like a rapid dog” as Rep. Federica Wilson (D-FL) so wrongly and stupidly stated.  He was a black criminal who was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and instead of walking away, he got on top of Zimmerman and repeatedly banged his head on a concrete sidewalk almost killing Zimmerman.  As sad as his death was, George Zimmerman, who is a Hispanic, was found not guilty of a racial crime in his death so get over it!  Why don’t you all try reading the terrible stories of white people who are viciously killed by overzealous cops, blacks and others.  Yes, black on white crime is at an all-time high, but nothing is ever said about that, EVEN FROM WHITE PEOPLE!  White people are viciously attacked by blacks yet the media is curiously silent about the rising statistics, and you don’t see white people going after random blacks in retaliation.  Why is that?

How sad that John Wrana, who was about to celebrate his 96th birthday, who survived WWII, was taken down by Chicago police thugs who used over-excessive force on a man who was only trying to fight for his rights against people who were forcing him to have a high-risk surgery he didn’t want to have.  I am troubled that a 95-year old was forced to have high-risk surgery.  Why was he forced?  I guess this is the “Chicago way”, and I fear that thuggish behavior will be spreading out.  God help us all…

World War II veteran, 95, died after police shot him with TASER and bean bag rounds for ‘threatening care home staff with his CANE’

A 95-year-old world War II veteran died after being Tasered and hit with bean bag rounds by police for threatening care home staff – but his family insist he was killed unnecessarily. Police say that John Wrana, who lived in a Chicago assisting living home, was brandishing his cane, a metal shoehorn and a knife before officers shocked him and hit him with bean bag rounds. The senior citizen had been reported to authorities because he was being ‘involuntarily’ committed for medical treatment by staff at the Victory Centre, the Chicago Tribune reported.

He was behaving in ‘combative’  manner, by threatening staff with his cane and a shoehorn. Wrana was  reportedly scheduled to undergo a risky surgery, and was apparently  afraid to end up on life support. When police arrived at Park Forest at around 8.45pm, they said he was  ordered to surrender, but he refused to and continued to berate staff  and threaten them. Officers claim he then picked up a 6-inch knife, but his family’s attorney  alleges that care home staff did not see him do this, The Blaze  reported. He was then shocked by a Taser, hit with rounds of bean bag ammunition, and was taken into custody and then to hospital. Staff claimed that he was sitting in a  chair during the row, suggesting that the force used by authorities  might not have been warranted, according to The Blaze. The Chicago Tribune reported that Mr Wrana was conscious when he was taken  to St. James Hospital and Health Centers in Chicago Heights. But he was then moved to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died at about 2.30am. The Southtown Star reported that an autopsy found the war veteran died from being shot in the stomach with the 12-gauge shotgun with bean-bag ammo.

The incident was ruled as a homicide by the medical examiner, The Blaze reported. According to the Wrana family lawyer, Nicholas Grapsas, the 95-year-old was  honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Corps in the rank of a sergeant  after fighting in India and Burma. During his service in the Pacific, he was shot down once. After the war, the Massachusetts native moved to California and got into real estate before settling in Glenwood, Illinois.

His wife of more than 30 years, Helen, passed away in 2005. The veteran lived with his 74-year-old stepdaughter, Sharon Mangerson, until his health took a turn for the worse. An autopsy found that the 95-year-old man died from internal bleeding after being shot in the stomach from a bean-bag gun. Grapsas and Wrana’s stepdaughter have questioned the official version of events laid out by police, insisting that the elderly man was sitting in his chair the entire time, and neither his family nor staff ever saw a butcher knife in his room. ‘The Japanese military couldn’t get him at the age he was touchable, in a uniform in the war,’ Grapsas told the Tribune. ‘It took 70 years later for the Park Forest police to do the job.’ Grapsas said he was told that between five and seven responding officers came armed with a riot shield commonly used in demonstrations to enter Wrana’s room before shooting him in the stomach. His stepdaughter described the 95-year-old as a fiercely independent and vital man who still enjoyed playing cards. According to the Chicago Tribune, Wrana was scheduled to undergo an operation. On the night of the tragic incident, his doctor told Margenson over the phone that even if he survives the surgery, her stepfather will likely end up on life support. Wrana than got on the phone with Sharon, thanked her for everything she has done for him and told her he loved her before saying goodbye and hanging up. That was the last she’s heard of him. Mr Wrana’s family are now deciding whether to file a lawsuit, according to their attorney. ‘This was a literal war hero,’ Mr Grapas said. ‘It’s outright insulting when you have such lack of respect for someone who served our country to the extent he did.’ The Victory Centre is a 112-apartment supportive living community for adults 65 and older, it’s website says.

Fantastic!
He fought for the USA (Home of the Brave & Land of the Free) and paid his taxes and the USA killed him! Poetic justice really.
Doesn’t he look so good in his State supplied uniform (before he went and invaded someone else’s country and killed people he didn’t know)! That’s just like he died – killed by people in uniform who didn’t know him!
You can just imagine old John Wrana, a proud ‘my country right or wrong’ returned serviceman who worshipped his flag!
And sheeple still love the State! Where would we be without The State?

Albert, your comments are sickening, disgusting and outrageous! I am a USAF Veteran that has helped protect your hide, as have tens of thousands of USAF and Army Air Corps that preceded the USAF. Indeed, as stated above, you have a perverted sense of history, and bashing people of honor is tantamount to slander or libel against innocent people.

Imagine if I used the power of the internet, located your friends, and the spread vicious and malignant statements as you did against the memory of Mr. Wrana. You would be fighting mad, but it also shows your cowardice, because you pick on dead people that cannot come back and defend themselves.

Sadly, with a life-threatening health issue, Mr. Wrana was pretty much already near death as it was. So, between you and these cowboy cops that murdered this man, there is no excuse or justification your your lethal remarks, nor their lethal actions.

Finally, I do not know who infected your mind with such a vitriolic and self-righteously maligned skewing of history, but if your words were a criminal act, I would sentence you as a judge to a year in a library to read all the true and clearly-chronicled accounts of WWII, and how it came about, ended, and everything in between.

Just this day alone, in my own research of the Holocaust, A riveting book came to light which I had never seen before. It is an accounting of the many atrocities of the genocidal minds of the perpetrators, the civilians that actually cheered on these murderers, and boasted with photos and stories of their gruesome actions.

The Good Old Days: The Holocaust as Seen by Its Perpetrators and Bystanders [Hardcover]
Ernst Klee (Editor), Willi Dressen (Editor), Volker Riess (Editor), Hugh Trevor-Roper (Foreword)

That is how those people saw those times in the throes of their revelry of destruction, genocide, etc. If you want to demonize something, go read the abstracts from Amazon.com’s preview of it, there is more than enough there to chill your soul regarding their ruthless rampages.

After you have done that, if you have a single gram of decency in you, you will return and apologize for your errant comments.

Dear Mr. Castelli, I would first like to thank you for your honorable service to this great country. Not only are you to be applauded for your heroic service, you are to be applauded for your honest and well-written comment here. I’m not well-versed in the Holocaust, but I have read many books on the atrocities that occurred. Because there is no threshold on what one can learn, I will be buying this book to educate myself further. I hope your comment will help stimulate more people into buying this book which is a true account of unspeakable horrors. I read all the customer comments from Amazon’s site. It sickens me how humans can inflict such atrocities on other human beings without any remorse whatsoever. Unfortunately, as we all know, history has a habit of repeating itself, as we are seeing in today’s world.

I am honored that you stopped by, and am posting the link to that book so Albert and others can know the true facts on what some rabid animals in human form are capable of inflicting on innocent men, woman and children for their own self-gratification…

NOTE TO ALBERT: I suggest you take D. M. Castelli’s advice. Feel free to start here…
