I found a more updated story on the Ricky McCormick case.  He was surrounded by some extremely shady characters.   Here’s an excerpt from my update (link is below excerpt)…

“McCormick may have been regarded as something of a simpleton who, despite some street smarts and his criminal record, was generally naïve to the world. The same cannot be said for the men who ran the Amoco gas station at 1401 Chouteau Avenue south of downtown St. Louis where he worked.Fawaz M. Hamdan, the original owner of the business, killed his neighbor with a butcher knife during a front-yard argument in May 1994. He later died in Missouri’s Potosi Correctional Center while serving a life sentence for second-degree murder.

Juma Hamdallah, a Palestinian immigrant who until 2002 used the name David Radigan, took over as president of the business. Juma employed his brother Baha “Bob” Hamdallah. Despite their familial ties, the two have had a rocky relationship. In August 1999, less than two months after McCormick’s death, police from Maryland Heights investigated an incident in which Juma allegedly shot Baha. Baha Hamdallah survived and filed no charges, but, according to police records, detectives looking into the shooting gathered information allegedly linking Baha “to black gang members in St. Louis City and narcotics use” and noted “Baha is reported to be violent and in possession of several weapons which include handguns and knives.”

Indeed, among the Hamdallah brothers (another, Jameil Hamdallah, is a registered sex offender), Baha appears to be the most volatile. Police reports and witness statements spanning several years illustrate repeated episodes of violence that seemed to accompany him wherever he went.

Shortly after moving to St. Louis in 1997 from Cleveland, Ohio, then 22-year-old Baha Hamdallah was cruising the streets of St. Louis in a blue Mazda Protegé when a police detective saw him pull up alongside a man named Tarrence Clark, lean out his car window and fire a shot at him with a .38-caliber revolver, according to the police report of the incident and witness statements. Clark escaped unharmed. Baha was arrested but never prosecuted.

Nine months later, on the evening of March 4, 1998, Baha Hamdallah was visiting one of his older brothers, Bahjat Hamdallah, at his job at the Family Market, a small corner grocery store in the Tower Grove East neighborhood. They got into an argument, and Baha allegedly grabbed a gun and opened fire on Bahjat from across the street. A bullet tore into the left side of Bahjat’s abdomen and knocked him to the ground. Baha jumped into his car and sped off.

The eyewitness reports, including that of the manager who knew Baha from frequent visits to the store, were consistent in the police report. But a bloodied Bahjat, either out of fear or a remaining shred of fraternal loyalty, told police he had never seen his assailant before and described him as a goateed Hispanic man rather than his five-foot-ten, 225-pound Middle Eastern brother.

Six days later Baha Hamdallah turned himself in and was arrested on a felony charge of first-degree assault, but Bahjat told police he did not wish to prosecute. State court files show no record of the case.

Later the same month, while working at the family’s Amoco station, Baha Hamdallah was arrested again, this time on a felony charge of second-degree assault, for allegedly beating a man named Elroe Carr with a rusty hammer. Baha allegedly threatened to kill Carr, described by family and acquaintances as a sometimes-homeless drug addict, if he didn’t get off the property. Baha told police, “I just figured I’d take care of this myself,” according to the incident report.

On August 7, 1998, two weeks before Carr’s case against Baha Hamdallah was slated to go to court, Carr was gunned down just blocks from the Amoco station on a residential street in the neighboring housing project. The pending assault charges against Baha died that night with Carr.

Carr’s murder remains unsolved, and police made no arrests. But confidential informants told police Carr was killed “at the behest of Baha Hamdallah,” according to St. Louis police reports obtained through a public-records request.

There would be more violence to come…”

I don’t mean to cast Ricky McCormick in a bad light, but the spotlight is shining on a deeply disturbed guy with evil ties.  This story is all about blacks killing blacks, but according to so-called entertainer Harry Belafonte, “White America” is the reason for all the black gun violence…

“The river of blood that washes the streets of our nation flows mostly from the bodies of our black children. Yet, as the great debate emerges on the question of the gun, white America discusses the constitutional issue of ownership, while no one speaks of the consequences of our racial carnage.”

Excerpt taken from:  Belafonte blasts ‘white America’ for black gun crimes

From what I’ve read here, all the deaths surrounding the Ricky McCormick story had nothing at all to do with white people.  It’s classic black-on-black crime, but no blacks will ever admit to the truth, even when it’s staring them in the face—it’s always someone else’s fault.  Just look at the blame game that’s been spewing from Obama for the past 4-5 years.  Maybe Harry Belafonte, Jesse Jackass and Al Crapton should get off their butts and call on blacks to end the black violence against other blacks and also against whites, where the violence is really escalating.

Here’s a very detailed story on Ricky McCormick courtesy of Riverfront Times (June 14, 2012).  The story is lengthy, but definitely worth the read…

UPDATED:  Wednesday, April 6, 2011, 9:50 PM (My original post follows my updates) According to a new Wikipedia page, it’s true that McCormick was arrested for statutory rape.   At the time of his death, he was unemployed, on disability welfare and had fathered at least four children.   He did have a criminal record and served 11 months of a 3-year sentence for statutory rape.  I wonder why he was let out early.  He suffered from chronic heart and lung problems.  Here’s more info…

UPDATED:  Wednesday, April 6, 2011, 7:55 PM (My original post follows my updates)   OK, this case just got creepier.  The Guardian is now reporting that Ricky McCormick, 41, who was found in a St. Louis, MO field on June 30, 1999 by St. Louis deputies was a “statutory rape convict”.  This may or may not change the way people will now look at this case.  I, for one, would like to know how his victim is now doing if this information is, in fact, true… Is the FBI right to crowdsource a murder case?Because the FBI site can’t handle all the responses in emails, they’re asking people to contact them via U.S. mail (I already posted the address in my original post, below) because people are having a hard time getting through.

Someone actually typed the letters and characters of McCormick’s 2-page note for easier viewing.  Here’s a copy of the text (asterisks mark questionable characters) from the notes reposted by…

UPDATED:  Wednesday, April 6, 2011, 6:24 AM (My original post follows my update)

Here’s an update from the FBI’s Official Web site…

FBI:  Help Solve An Open Murder Case (Ricky McCormick)

They’ve set up a special Web site where the public can go to offer any comments and/or theories about the coded messages in this case…

FBI:  Help Break The Code Submission Form

Of course, the address I indicated in my original post still stands if you want to contact them via U.S. mail.  The FBI is saying there’s no reward, that it’s just a challenge and the satisfaction of knowing you’ve brought a killer to justice.  Hopefully someone out there can solve this puzzle.  Good luck!

As I gather further information on this case, I’ll post it here.  Thank you for stopping by…

Murder victim Ricky McCormick, 41, had 2-page encrypted note in his pocket when his body was found.

This sounds like something you’d read in a mystery novel:  The FBI is seeking the public’s help in cracking the code in a 1999 murder case.  This twelve-year-old cold case has baffled the brightest, and now they’re asking for outside help.

The murdered body of Ricky McCormick, 41, was found in a St. Louis, MO field on June 30, 1999 by St. Louis deputies.  There didn’t appear to be a motive and there were no suspects at the time.

The only clue that was left behind is a 2-page encrypted note (shown in the story, below) that contained more than 30 lines of coded material using numbers, letters, dashes and parentheses.  McCormick was a high school dropout who used notes similar to this when he was younger, which family members or friends could never decipher.

There is a reward for anyone with knowledge of these codes or with information of his murder.  If you have any information, you are asked to write to:

FBI LABORATORY

ATTN:  Ricky McCormick Case

Cryptanalysis and Racketeering Records Unit (CRRU)

2501 Investigation Parkway

Quantico, VA  22135

Here’s the story…

Calling all code-breakers! FBI asks for help in solving murder of man who had mysterious encrypted notes in his pocket

I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, and there’s a reason this case is now surfacing after 12 years in obscurity.  It’s no coincidence that a story about a 12-year-old genius (whose IQ of 170 is higher than Einstein’s) has recently been making the news as well.  I blogged about him…

JACOB BARNETT, 12-YEAR-OLD PRODIGY, HAS IQ OF 170, HIGHER THAN EINSTEIN’S (VIDEOS)

Perhaps the FBI can see if 12-year-old genius Jacob Barnett will be the one to crack the code on this 12-year-old cold case that’s been baffling officials for so long.  Now that would make for a great story…

I have been looking at Mccormick’s notes and have found places where he talks about the freeways and interstates. But havent linked everything together yet.

Hello from Spain
.
–In my humble opinion the master key is in the 2nd note, last line.
–I see that: “O-W-m-4 H8L XORLX”

Can you see which letters aee repeated and where?
Can you remember the Arthur´s C. Clarke joke about HAL 9000?

Yes? It is a STENOGRAPHIC problem.

Your grabs a pencil and paper and follow my instructions.

Then my solution is……

+If O=O, W=W and R=R
+If m=N, H=I and L=M using Caesar Code B or +1
+If X= Variations of the letter “C” (MC,C and MC) using shorthand
+If 4= four= FOR by phonetic solution like SMS language.
+If 8= eight= eit= ei= letter “A” by phonetic solution like SMS language (example L8= late or leight, H8= hate ….)
+If the hyphen join the letters in a word.
+If we add vowel “i” by transcription shorthand solution.
THEN…..

“O-W-m-4 H8L XORLX” means “OWN-FOR I AM MCCORM(i)CK”.

It is the signature, last will or testament of Mccormick.

+ If you think “4″ is not “4″ but “y”
+ If you think “8″ is not “8″ but “I” then the solution is:

“Y”= wai= WHY or WAY by phonetic solution, similar sound.
“I”= ai= letter “A” by phonetic graphic representation.

THEN= “O-W-m-Y HIL XORLX” = “OWN-WHY? I AM MCCORMICK”

-Only exist a Stenographyc text that was hidden with a personal shorthand system with some measures of deception.

Goodbye.

Correction Final

Last line of note 2 is something like this:
“O-W-m-Y H8L XORLX” = “Owny i am Mcorm(i)Ck”

The word “owny” can be found on the Internet Collins English Dictionary: “owny-o or ownsome” http://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/owny-o

OWNY is a informal noun.
SO “O-W-m-y H8L XORLX” means “On my ownsome i am Mcorm(i)Ck”
This is a statement of property

Jose, how in the world did you come up with that? I’ve got to hand it to you, I never would have uncovered that. I looked online and found more of your comments (http://www.jaredlander.com/2011/03/the-fbi-needs-your-help/). You seem to be very detail-oriented. Perhaps you could decipher McCormick’s notes. Color me intrigued, and in a very good way…

Hello QueenBeeWorld

My life is very boring.
Since 1998 I take care of my parents, and so I’m a fan of mystery novels and to solve riddles of all kinds.
The McCormick´s case was related from the beginning with a novel by Edgar Allan Poe and I followed the instructions of “the gold bug”.

I discovered the signature immediately. … And with a map, my dictionary of English, and a number of deductions style Sherlock Holmes (One gets infected, it is true, by the style of a novel that one has been reading): I guess McCormick hid 99,840 dollars and more, on Monday, in Marais Temps Clair conservation area, under a shed to bird watching or hunting, before dying of natural causes in the car of a stranger returning home (he was a hitchhiker).
…….In the first note there is also a mention of a lamentable murder,

A personal shorthand text is very difficult to translate, and I have some doubts but I could not find someone to be my eyes and my hands. One person was and something very strange happened, something like an X-Files episode, eada more: http://4chandata.org/x/I039m-on-the-run–x—-I-suppose-now-that-I039m-enroute-its-safe-to-tell-what-I-came-across-This-is-OP-from-the-Ricky-McCormick-th-a329788

My method relied on the basic facts and common sense but could not be verified because it is a personal shorthand text with some measures of deception and this is not a typical text encoded. I hope that the solution does not seem forced.

The work of this journalist does not change anything: Code Dead: Do the encrypted writings of Ricky McCormick hold the key to his mysterious death? By Christopher Tritto

…………….although the mother says FBI history is nothing but a bunch of chicken shit (and there’s a murder).

Regards from Spain.

Guau, Joseph! You truly do have a very analytical mind! You should hone your skills where they’d be the most profitable, my friend. How about writing a mystery novel while you’re home caring for your parents? If you pen one, I’d love to read it…

As far as your life goes, I’d say it’s far from boring. Taking care of your parents is a very noble and responsible gesture. Your parents are lucky to have you for their son. I’m going to include you and your parents in my daily prayers, Joseph. I wish bountiful blessings for you and your family there in Spain. Keep that mind sharp, and continue to stay focused on what matters most in your life. Believe me, you WILL be rewarded…Lovingly, QueenBee

It is just a key for an encrypted ebook. Notice the (ACSM). He most likely wrote it down after buying the book to put it on another computer.

When you start to download an Adobe PDF a small file with the extension .acsm is first downloaded. This is used by Adobe Digital Editions to send the activation ID to the delivery server which will use that ID to generate an encrypted PDF/ePub eBook, which is then downloaded to your PC.

Write the code in a file and save it as ‘foo.acsm’ Login to the dead guys account and download his encrypted adobe ebook. Case solved!

This rambling code looks somewhat like an encrypted computer program…either BASIC or C+. Some indentation (careful to the 4th character) makes this seem apparent. It looks like a “case” statement where, based on the values, branches to one of 3 statements below. Also, on the “Notes” page, line 13 begins w/ 99.84…This could be the Julian date, March 25, 1999. Computer clocks even put a decimal value afterward to indicate the time of day. As for the recurrance on character sets, such as SE, NCBE, WLD, etc., these may well be variables and mneumonics for which the values are anyones guess. If Ricky McCormick was MENSA material, he no doubt had excellent memory retention which would lead me to believe he did not leave the values to his mneumonics laying around. (For instance BGHENCP = Big Game Hunters Eat Nice Cold Potatos = Belize, Honduras, Equador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama = Central American coutries. I’m not saying it’s impossible; just very time consuming! The common mneumonic defs for “SE” are southeast and selenium, but to Ricky?…

What an astute observation, Rick! Gives one something to think about. As I think about this story further, I’d like to throw a couple of questions out there. How do we know this was actually written by Ricky McCormick? True, he had composed notes like this in his past, but how do we know this wasn’t planted on him by another who had knowledge of “the code”? This was on him when his body was recovered so maybe it was meant to be found. I’m sure theories will abound–some good and some way out there. Whatever comes of this, if it’s meant to be uncovered, it will be as I believe everything happens for a reason. Thanks so much for a great comment!
