JUAN FLORES, 17, AND 3 OTHER JUVENILES ARRESTED IN BLEACH BALLOON ASSAULT ON MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT MIGUEL MESA, 14…

Last week in Lilburn, GA, four teenagers from Meadowcreek High School in Lilburn were in a van driving down the street, throwing balloons with bleach out of the windows and spraying a water gun with bleach as a "prank".  A middle schooler, 14-year-old Miguel Mesa of Gwinnett County, was walking home on the last day of school when he was hit in the eyes with one of those balloons filled with bleach.  He was not targeted; he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.  The four teens are now in custody and are being charged in connection with the bleach attack that injured Mesa.  Juan Flores, 17, was charged as an adult; the other three are juveniles. They were all accused of aggravated battery, which is a felony.

These four kids need their heads examined.  They’re claiming they "didn’t know bleach could cause any harm as they were only trying to ruin his clothes".  Really?  Think again, idiots.  They knew it was harmful because they used rubber gloves to protect themselves.  After seeing Mesa screaming in pain on the ground in the fetal position, did they turn around to help him?  No!  They just kept on going.  They should all be charged as adults since they all knew what they were doing, but as usual, the laws sometimes fail law-abiding society by protecting the criminals…young or old, it doesn’t matter—a criminal is a criminal.  These are the clueless leaders of tomorrow.  Seems like today’s clueless leaders, if you ask me.  Stupid is as stupid does…

By Kim I. Hartman

Four teens confessed to tossing a bleach-filled balloon that hit a 14-year-old Gwinnett County boy in the face, severely injuring his eyes.

Juan Flores, 17, and three others who are accused of tossing a bleach-filled balloon that hit a 14-year-old Gwinnett County boy in the face, seriously injuring him, told police they were only trying to ruin his clothes.

After he was attacked, Miguel Mesa said, "I got really scared because I thought I’d gone blind. I couldn’t see anything."

Lilburn – Teenagers armed with a bleach-filled super-squirter water gun and balloons have been charged following an assault on another student that resulted in severe injuries to the boy’s eyes. Police also recovered bottles of bleach and rubber gloves at one home.

Lilburn police have announced four teenagers are now in custody for the high school prank gone wrong.

The teens spent the last day of school riding around in a van randomly hurling bleach filled balloons at other students as they walked home.

Juan Flores, 17, of Norcross, and three other Meadowcreek High School students are accused of tossing numerous bleach-filled balloon from a van, striking one boy in the face as he walked home from school.

Police said Flores, the front seat passenger, also used a "Super Soaker" water gun to spray a bleach mixture on the boy and at passing cars. A 16-year-old boy apparently was driving his mother’s van, and two 15-year-old boys were in the back seat, according to Capt. Hedley.

Seventeen-year-old Juan Flores was charged as an adult. The other three are juveniles and their names will not be released. They were all accused of aggravated battery, which is a felony reports Fox5.

Miguel Mesa, a middle school student was hit in the eyes by the chemical bombs and required laser eye surgery and his eyesight may never be the same. His eye still remains bandaged and full damage is not yet known said his father.

Mesa, who’s face is black and blue said it was extremely painful and has been hard on him but he is doing a little better today. The boy said he didn’t know what happened and turned when he heard other kids yelling and was struck in the face and eyes.

Police said a tip led them to the four teens. They said they arrested the 16-year-old driver of the van Wednesday. Thursday, they arrested Flores and the other two teens. The teens have admitted to the bleach bomb attacks and gave full confessions.

They also learned that the teens were fully aware of how dangerous bleach was as they were all wearing rubber gloves and filling the balloons while on the road.

Captain Bruce Hedley of Lilburn Police Department said the bleach was a prank for the last day of school. They said the group from Meadowcreek High School was trying to ruin people’s clothes, according to their statements and had not targeted Mesa.

Hedley stated they did turn around when they saw what happened but drove past the boy laying on the sidewalk and did not render any assistance. Hedley added that now that all four are in custody he feels the investigation of the case is closed.

Flores is being held at the Gwinnett County Jail. The three other teens were at the Gwinnett youth detention facility.

Eva, you say they regret injuring Mesa. I beg to differ. Where do you see that regret? The only thing they "regret" is the fact that they got caught. If they are "sorry", it\’s because they\’re in a heap of trouble now. As I stated in my post, and it is 100% fact…After seeing Mesa screaming in pain on the ground in the fetal position, did they turn around to help him? No! THEY JUST KEPT ON GOING! How is that showing "regret"? They thought they\’d get away with it if they took off, but thank God, some people had the decency to turn these little thugs in. As far as your "boys will be boys" comment…that has got to be one of the lousiest and sickest excuses for boys committing violent crimes in this country. Maybe you\’ve been living under a rock for some time, but that expression died out some time ago and will not help "boys" who have committed violent crimes anymore, prank or no prank. If these kids are smart, they\’ll take this as a wake up call and won\’t go endangering people intentionally. I hope they learn that there are consequences for their violent actions. Time will tell…
