Nothing calms me during this economic crisis we’re in like a good comedy.  One of my guilty pleasures is watching the reruns of Just Shoot Me (Weekdays, 10-10:30 AM) on TBS.  The show is well written and well acted, which I can’t say for a lot of shows on TV now.
If you want a good belly laugh, watch this series.  It’s one of the funniest shows on TV!  It aired for seven seasons on NBC from March 4, 1997 to August 16, 2003, with 148 episodes produced, and for some reason I never watched it during that time .  The show followed the staff at the fictional fashion magazine Blush.  The show originally centered on Maya Gallo, played by Laura San Giacomo, a neo-feminist writer, who reluctantly takes a job at the glamour magazine, owned by her father, the Donald Trump-like Jack Gallo, played by George Segal (who, in the story, has a rivalry with Donald Trump).  The cast included womanizing (and usually over-sensitive) photographer Elliot DiMauro (Enrico Colantoni), and the heavy drinking and sexually promiscuous ex-model Nina Van Horn (Wendie Malick).  After the show’s original pilot for NBC, David Spade was added to the cast as smart-mouthed assistant Dennis Finch. While the show had been designed as something of a vehicle for San Giacomo, it developed into more of an ensemble format.  The show has also been credited as bringing a surge of renewed popularity for Segal and Malick, who had been out of the public eye for some time up until Just Shoot Me.
Anyway, this episode, in particular, is hysterical…
In order to help Elliott get a great deal on an apartment, Maya agrees to pose with him as a married couple.  Meanwhile, when Jack discovers Finch has been renting out his parking space, it leads the two into a battle over trust.
If you want to get away from the devastating news for awhile and just laugh for a full 1/2 hour, watch this show.  This particular episode will air tomorrow morning, Thursday, 10-10:30 AM on TBS so set your DVR tonight.
