I don’t know if this is misplaced anger, but it is beginning to become commonplace in our society…
Brendan Pemberton, "upset" that he couldn’t renew his license because of a 20-year old unpaid speeding ticket, toppled over a nearly 150-year-old statue of Moses in a Worcester courthouse.  He did this in front of a state trooper.  Now that’s rage!  I’m wondering why it took the registry 20 years to nab this guy.  Normally, you can’t renew a license if you have a one-year old unpaid ticket.  Violence over stupid issues like this is now rampant, and because of a heavy backlog in the court system, many offenses will be slipping through the cracks.  Maybe that’s what happened to this 20-year old unpaid speeding ticket.  I hate to be a Dolly Downer, but if something doesn’t turn our economy around soon, we are in for a lot more violence because unfortunately, there are a lot of unstable people out there who don’t know how to channel their anger in a productive way…

WORCESTER, Mass. – A Tyngsborough man allegedly upset about a 20-year-old unpaid speeding ticket that was preventing him from renewing his license is charged with pushing over a nearly 150-year-old statue of Moses in a Worcester courthouse.

Police say 42-year-old Brendan Pemberton heavily damaged the 8-foot, 4-inch hollow plaster statue on Thursday after storming out of the clerk’s office following a dispute over a $165 ticket.

Pemberton allegedly took his frustration out on the biblical lawmaker with a uniformed state trooper standing about 15 feet away.

Trooper James Ellis told the Telegram & Gazette that Pemberton appeared "very agitated, very upset."

He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday on a variety of charges, including malicious destruction of property.
