OBAMA HURRIES STIMULUS YET TAKES A 3-DAY V-DAY EXCURSION…

Obama stressed the importance of signing the stimulus bill in a hurry, yet he takes off with Obama #2 for a 3-day, V-day excursion.  They dine at a restaurant owned by Oprah Winfrey’s former chef, Art Smith.  The trip was uneventful except that Obama’s motorcade left without the small group of reporters who travel everywhere with him. The motorcade pulled out of the neighborhood and left the president without media coverage for about 45 minutes.  Oh my, we can’t have that!  Obama needs the 24/7 coverage in case he performs some type of miracle.  I’m sure they are taking immediate steps to ensure that this does not happen again.

He is nothing more than a "Do as I say, not as I do" president.  He’s constantly on the airwaves preaching that we need to concentrate on cutting back yet he lives his life the exact opposite.  Congress was pushed by Obama to get the bill through before the holiday weekend even before they had a chance to read all 1,071 pages of the document.  I would never sign a contract without going over it with a fine-toothed comb, but here we have the biggest stimulus in history being passed through with only a passing glance at the contents.  We will all be suffering the consequences because of their actions, or rather inactions…

After pushing Congress for weeks to hurry up and pass the massive $787 billion stimulus bill, President Obama promptly took off for a three-day holiday getaway.

Obama arrived at his home in Chicago on Friday, and treated wife Michelle to a Valentine’s Day dinner downtown last night. The couple was spotted leaving upscale Table Fifty-Two, which specializes in Southern cuisine, with the first lady toting what appeared to be a doggie bag.

The president plans to spend the Presidents’ Day weekend in the Windy City, and is not expected to sign the bill until Tuesday, when he travels to Denver to discuss his economic plan.

Both the House and Senate passed the bill Friday night.

The push to get the bill through before the holiday weekend was so frantic, members of Congress didn’t have a chance to read all 1,071 pages of the document before they could vote.

"In a perfect world it would have been nice to have had more time to process it," said Ilan Kayatsky, a spokesman for Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY).

Meanwhile, Gov. Paterson called yesterday for fiscal restraint with the massive influx of federal aid. His budget office estimated that New York will receive $24.6 billion over the next two years, $4 billion more than first believed. brendan.scott@nypost.com
